I'm intrigued now... they say it was very useful when the Chiropodist called...
Perhaps the gap between the floor and the bottom of the screen enables the patient to hide behind the screen while the chiropodist works on thei feet from the other side ?
Maybe it's some sort of sixties sit com thing... "that's a really bad ingrowing toe nail you've got there young lady... just pop behind that screen and take all your clothes off !"
Maybe he just didn't like the chiropodist and used the screen to hide behind so the chiropodist couldn't find him ?
