P38 trip Computer

Oct 13, 2005 1 Replies

Hi all, I have finally bought myself another Rangie after 2 years without. Yippee. I have bought a '95 2.5 DSE P38. It has had a few problems but I am just about getting to the bottom of them now. The one that has me stumped at the moment is the trip mpg computer does not seem to work, no matter what I do with the stalk. What I need to know is what controls it, i.e where does the stalk connect too? Is there a separate unit or is it within some big box somewhere? The trip mile works and resets to zero but I can't get any of the other functions to work. Any help and advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks, Barno

The trip computer is controlled by the BeCM, but there isn't much you can do with it - one short press of the lower button on the left stalk will cycle it through the features, a long press will reset the MPG calculations (and range etc).

It may not be enabled on some vehicles; I don't know if this is a testbook enabled feature or something deeper.
