We got the ninety ! winch ,snorkel, role cage, rock sliders, 200tdi, every panel dented, nice..........! Thanks in advance Icky

the rev counter is driven from a terminal on the alternator. if you're lucky, it's loose, if not, your alternator is going flaky.

Hi,

My Disco had this happen regularly. Every time it went in for service, they would fix it, but it would stop working again soon after.

Eventually, I stamped my foot (metaphorically), and the dealer replaced the spade connector on the wire to the alternator. No problems since. I suspect that there was a break in the wire where the spade connector crimped on. New connector therefore solved teh problem.

yeah, it can be a loose or bad connection. worth checking.

Hi Graham

Thanks for the advice, i will try this at the weekend. I will post the outcome...

Not sure if it is the same on a disco, but if memory serves correctly it is a grey and white wire on a Range Ruster. Sorry. Too bone idle to go out in to the rain for the manual ! :-)
