Rear Wiper on a RR

Does anyone know where the "control unit" for the rear wiper is on a 1989 RR Classic and if it can be fixed or must it be replaced. My wiper is not parking correctly and running very slowly.

Thanks

Its under the headliner. Pry the plastic push caps that secure the liner to the rear roof line. It may be necessary to undo the light fixture and the rear grab handles above the door to sufficiently pull the headliner down enough to make access to the motor. for the parking bit. Unscrew the nut holding the wiper blade to the motor and place it in the proper parked position. the shaft extending from the motor is splined and allows the operator to adjust accordingly. Be sure to fit the nut prior to operation. As for the motor being serviced I'm not too sure. Aside from making sure all of the electrical connections to ground and power connections are secure then the motor should work. Be advised there is no high-speed on the rear wiper, just intermittent swipes.

Just a thought, but reading your problem sounded very similar to my own on my 1988 RR. It turned out to be the fact that the rubber washer/seal under the nut that secures the arm had broken down/ perished and let water into the shaft which subsequently started to rust the shaft and caused it to run tight in its "tube/housing". I had to take of the wiper, remove the shaft, which involves stripping down from the inside where the gears are, and cleaning and greasing the shaft assembly. Along with plenty of grease around the outside and a new seal it seems to be ok now. I will have to replace the grease as it gets washed away no doubt, but it does seem to be keeping the water out.

This my help
