RRIII Front diff failures

Specific to the RRIII Diff issue (actually the diffs are fine!)

Just spotted this in the RR forum and thought it worth sharing. It's and aftermarket Pinion doofer my Ashcrofts to get around the stupidity of landrover not a) designing the prop right in the first place (now sorted on newer modles) and b) not selling this part but offering only a whole diff at around £700!!!!!

I'll even consider getting mine checked and done before the trip to France for piece of mind if nothing else.

Should have stuck with the 101, Lee. At least you didn't burn with anger when it went wrong!

When it went wrong... oddly... it was the diff pinion bearing.. now I don't know about burning with anger... mainly freezing ones nipples off.

Note to prospective 101 owners.

a) get a big enough garage first b) fit ducting off the eberspacher down you trouser leg if sorting the brakes at temperatures where water becomes a solid. If you can't fix the brakes at least your nuts will be roasted.

I love the RR but as experience teaches us , I'm constantly waiting for the bomb shell... I'm sure it's got to be ticking.

If your model is affected, at that price replace it anyway mate.

I know the air compressor is weak on P38's, I have a refurb kit ready to fit when I can be arsed.

Nige uttered summat worrerz funny about:

Rumor on the RRIII forum is there is a recall any time now. We can live in hope they bung on the one with a UJ at each end.

Rang the local dudes today and checked out my Motor as it has a 5 year VIP service package which expires next July. It's just had a service at 59000 and the next one is due at 75 odd (I forget exactly) but I've bob hope of that in the next 8 months. They confirmed all it's workshop tweaks and that it's hadn't been recalled for any of the diff issues as it's chassis number wasn't in the affected range. Lets hope it remains so! I'll bide my time for now but the price is well impressive compared to the alternative.
