Stolen - Part II

Having had my beloved TD 90 of twelve years ownership nicked, I have received a remarkably good settlement from the Insurers (Fortis) and have agreed to buy a well preserved 1998 TDI 300

I want to swop the centre seat for a cubby box but the ECU (or some other electric "thingy"!) is actually attached to the underside lower part of the seat itself (which makes it easily accessible by simply lifting up the seat squab.

Any suggestions about re-positioning - I suppose it could be attached to the underside of the cubby box but it wouldn't be so easily accessible.

Advice welcome.

I just tucked the ECU inside the cubby box when I did mine - held it in place with some sticky backed Velcro. Nice and easy to access but does depend on being able to find a way to get the cables in.

Normal? what's this normal? We put ours in the battery box under passengers seat.

Don't know if it's "normal" but it worked well for me :-)

I considered putting it under the passenger seat with the battery but I've fitted a rather large truck battery and there's not much room left for anything else (chose the battery based on the space available - there's only a couple of inches clearance in any direction).

IMS 2" should be adequate if not plenty, why you need 2" all round your battery?

That's actually a max of 2" INSIDE the box - the gap to get the battery in is a little smaller - and as far as length's concerned there's only

1/4" clearance.

That is definitely bigger than ours!
