Td5 owners

Just seen my local spanner monkey about somehting else, but he mentioned he's getting loads of TD5's with holed pistons, mainly down to injectors falling to bits. He says if the fuel consumption & smoke start, dont delay.



He also mentioned a massive increase in turbos going phut.

Anything to do with the new formulation to diesel containing ethanol & biodiesel?

Not good is it. Heard this some time back, in fact it must have been a good few years, which is one of the reasons I spent no small amount getting my injectors refurbed last year after one failed electrically.. the other 5 would not be far behind (Obviously on about the TD6).

Any of them "chipped"? Too much fuel & too heavy right foot etc.

Are the holes in the pistons due to physical damage, or melting?

Not chipped, the damage is from the injector dropping to bits, manking the piston & most cases the bores.
