If the engine was running while you were filling the tank then it could set the check engine light.

Make sure the cap is tightened until you hear it click several times.

You can borrow a code scanner from auto parts stores and see what codes are stored.

Hi .. No I never leave the engine on and do tighten the cap until I've heard a few clicks. I think it resets itself if it was the cap and I did retighten it. But its running fine ... it always runs fine. Super car. Thanks,

Check in the engine compartment for any disconnected hoses caused when serviced.

This was the cause of my check engine light coming on.

Without knowing what specific computer code was stored that caused the MIL lamp to come on, you're shooting in the dark. There are literally hundreds of possibilities. Take the car to Autozone. They will read the code for you for free (and even clear it if you ask them to). Clearing the code doesn't mean it won't come right back, but it might not and if it doesn't then you have nothing to worry about. However, if it does come right back then something needs attention. Knowing what the code is will help the rest of the folks here point you in the right direction.

But first I would suggest going to Autozone and having them read the code for you, tell you what it is (write it down) and then clear it if they can. There's at least a 50/50 chance it will remain cleared.

Most dealerships will charge as much as $50 to read the diagnostic code, so giving the Autozone kid a $5 tip is up to you but probably wouldn't hurt.
