ES 300 turn signal replacement

I'm trying to replace the turn signal on my 2000 Lexus ES 300. I've tried pulling the assembly from the outside but it doesn't come out easily and I'm afraid of breaking it. Is this the way it's done?

No, you need to come in from the inside of the headlight assembly. The bulbs pull out from there, not the entire lens assembly.

I have twice taken out my front turn signal bulb on my 2000 ES 300. What you do is open the hood and lift up the very end of the black plastic strip that runs from over one headlight assembly across the front of the engine compartment, over to the top of the other headlight assembly. You will see one phillips head screw. Remove that screw. Then, from the outside of the car, place the palm of your hand on the side of the headlight/turn signal assembly, and push in a little to get a grip on it, and push forcefully forward, towards where the headlight would be if you drove the car forward one foot. The headlight unit will slide forward, and you can easily get at the turn signal bulb.
