Any comments as to whether this is a good/bad purchase? Basically I'm interested in long-term economical transport, reasonable degree of safety, and basically f*ck all else that I can think of. Parker's says it's economical and reliable.

Neighbour has one
Uses it for a 40 mile round trip monday to friday, Sits there doing nothing at weekends.
Never seems to go wrong. ALways starts and he reckons is real economical,
A villager has had two of these, both 1.3's. One since new on a 97 P plate, still going, maintanance level virtually nil. Has been supplimented by a 98R plater. On that basis, must be reliable and fairly economical.
Pretty slow on the pick-up though, but hey, you're mentioning a 1 litre, so you knew that. The higher models aren't much better. Not really a suzuki underneath, as you know I guess, like most cars these days, and it certainly isn't swift.
Seems to suffer from rust problems, like fords, otherwise, having only driven one for 3 days, from that I can say they're pretty good for a small car. You don't see many about though, which is maybe a sign?
Economical, reliable, dull as ditchwater to drive.
It's a domestic appliance, not a car.
