%*&^$£" Cavalier Shocks!

OK - I give up.........

Why is every front shock insert I try for my 2.0 16V 1995 Cav too danm long. The new ones are about 5mm too long in the body ( as opposed to the ram ).

Vauxhall, and every other local parts dealer only lists one length.

EPC only shows on size.

No, there isn't anything in the bottom of the strut stopping the insert seating

- it is physically 5mm longer.

HELP!!!

perhaps you have shocks off a different model. my vauxhall book shows two sorts for 2 litre . have you tried going for the genuine shocks?

Vauxhall s say there's only one sort for non 4x4 X 2.0 XEV Cavs

Even Courtneys ( local to me ) can't offer advice

Vauxhaul where gits for things like that, I had a Cavalier with am M12 MAter Cylinder, which at the time was listed as only ever fitted to Astra GTE16Vs, had a quality discussion at the dealers "Well you've obviusly changed it sir" " & made my own steel brake lines up I suppose"

It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember DuncanWood saying something like:

Heh. Way back in the dim and distant, you had to quote the chassis number of the vehicle to make sure they gave you the right bits, such was the variation of factory fitment. Even at that, it paid to check what you'd just been handed at the counter in case it was wrong.

After 3 attempts at supplying me with that I gave in & bought the bits I needed from te scrapyard. Audi wanted my chassis number before they'd sell me a hose the other day that had the right part number printed on the old one.
