My wifes 2000 X plate Clio 1.2 Grande wouldn't start this morning. Breakdown man diagnosed that there was no signal from the cranshaft sensor and on closer inspection the connector that plugs into he sensor was halfway out. When he pushed it all the way in the car started no problem.
He then commented that there should be some barbs on either the sensor socket or the plug to lock the two together but that they were missing / broken off. Can anybody confirm where the barbs are that are supposed to lock the plug into the sensor?
If the barbs are on the plug then is the wiring to this part of the main wiring loom and hence would be a big job to fix (unless we bodged it with a dab of glue or a small jubilee clip to secure it in place)?
Or are the barbs on the sensor in which case it would possibly be just a case or replacing the sensor to ensure the sensor and the plug stay connected?
If anybody ahs a picture of the parts in question that would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Andy
