OK, I've pulled the codes by shorting the connector in the fuse box - now I'm more confused. According to this page:
8 5 8 5 8 5 which from the Multec codes means the immobiliser has the wrong signal - could that cause all the problems we're having??
I also tried it with the engine running but the light just flashed on and off randomly - no pattern I could see!
Any ideas if it is the immobiliser or what?

Just in the last couple of weeks the car feels like it's 'pulling' and the engine note sounds wrong. Thought it could be running on 3 cylinders so checked HT leads & everything seems ok. The petrol consumption's just about doubled now as well - could this be something to do with the ECU's 'safe' state when it goes wrong (ie mix too rich & timing off)??
I'd appreciate any thoughts you have!
