Just enquiring but does any one have a cost of a cambelt change on Peugeot 306 (turbo diesel 1998). It`s due to be changed so thought it`d be nice to see what people pay for this - unless they obviously do it themselves.

My wife's 106 diesel was =A3120 from the Peugeot Dealers, my Xantia
1=2E9TD (with A/C) which is probably a similar engine was the same price from a local Citroen/Pug specialist. The Citroen dealer 100yds away wanted =A3350.=20--=20 Malc
Depending on where you are in the UK expect to pay about £150+ from an independent garage. I would buy an original belt and take it with me rather than let them decide by chance which pattern part they will be fitting.
Blimey, I would take a day off work and get your hands dirty!!! I paid £3.50ish + another tenner in assorted belts and did all of mine myself an a Citroen ZX. It was soooo easy, you do have to take the upper engine mount off, but I just put a trolley jack under the engine sump with a plank of wood across it to help take the load. I couldn't get the tensioner spring in! - So I used a Cobalt steel drill to make a small hole in the side of the spring casing and stuck a small screwdriver in to hold the spring under full tension until the belt was in, then simply removed said screwdriver.
I have to say it was good fun, not the easiest I have ever done, but not the hardest either. The hardest so far has to be a Mitsubishi Gallant, with a balancer shaft!!!
