And WTF can't van and car drivers use main beam at night when the road is clear of oncoming traffic. Makes overtaking the buggers damm hard when you have to remember the whole road when they won't light it up and show it to you. My lights won't shine though them.

Put it another way: if you're taking umbrage at the generally pleasant way the people in this group are trying to help you, then you'd best not delve into usenet - you'll get burned beyond recognition.

Maybe you could get a job at microsoft, you sound perfect.

On a sunny Sunday afternoon sometime in the future, I may well be able to complete the drive to visit my parents without being near-blinded by some teenaged weekend-driver who can't afford a full set of wheels for the sea-side journey. When that day comes and their is evidence that such people have taken the time to learn the conventions of the road, I will do more than investigate my posting options. I may even give them each thruppence for an ice cream.
