Escort fuel filter

Hi

Just replaced the fuel filter on a 1.8 Diesel escort (no turbo)

Now finding it hard to start (takes 3 attempts to start) before it splutters into life. Glow plugs replaced just before Christmas.

Also seems a little hesitant when driving.

The fuel filter has a screw at the top, where as the old one didn't. Would this be some kind of adjustment to fuel flow reaching the fuel pump?

James

No idea. It's not letting air into the system is it?

That's a point. I might just replace the seals where the fuel pipes connect to the filter.

Thanks

James

I did consider that, but from the original post I read it as the filter was before the pump. Perhaps I was too hasty to assume :)

There's two pumps :-). & if all you've done is change the filter then you've got an air leak, wrong filter etc. will only affect peak power.
