Exhaust fitting

I've got a new (to me) stainless exhaust to put on the Mondeo. I'm sure it needs some sort of gasket between the back of the cat and the exhaust

- it's a 2 hole diamond shaped flange.

The question is, what sort of gasket? I'm guessing from the size and potential movement of the pipes it would be a fairly thick metal or composite gasket. If I get the exact size of the flange (probably by drawing round it...) would a motor factor have a generic gasket in stock?

Or should I use something from a tube instead?

Almost certainly.

Have a play with this link, it should give you a picture of the gasket you need?

Thanks, it does. FDG39... £1.11 + VAT + £7.50 delivery(!)

I think I'll try locally.

On a related note - I'll be bolting a stainless flange onto a (presumably) mild steel flange. Are there any corrosion problems to watch out for due to the dissimilar metals? Assuming the existing bolts are still OK, shall I just reuse them, or should I get some stainless bolts? Is there a usual size? Do they need threadlock/tab washers/shakeproof washers? Are we there yet?

Cheers

Paul
