I was round at a mates this weekend and had to move his 1996 Golf off the drive.
I couldn't believe how bad it was - it started and idled at 1000rpm no problem, but even a light touch on the throttle and the engine just steadily died, and took a while to creep back up to 1000rpm again when you took your foot off. Trying to move the car up his gently inclined drive was impossible until it had been idling for 3-4 minutes
Are there any common issues that cause this, like the PCV/MAF valves on Fords?
Any other ideas?
Once it warms up, it goes very well.
