In all likelihood, the dash light will just be an indication that the circuit to the relay is on, not that power to the actual heater is present. Check the fuse first, then the relay.

cant remember if these use pins for contacts, if not check the wiring where it goes through the rear hatch, the wires might have broken.

Will do.

There are some pins but also a wire, not sure which feeds HRW.
Thanks for your help guys. Jerry
I used to have an M-reg Cinq which had intermittent trouble with the rear wiper[1]. A good cleaning of the pins and contacts (IIRC they're to the left of the latch mechanism, in an optimal crud-collection position) cured it. Seems likely that the design will be the same.
I recommend steel wool, and making sure the ignition's off before you start.

[1] The one with two settings: 'monsoon' and 'off'. It was so irritating that I ended up constructing a delay timer for it.
I know what you mean, and only one continuous speed on the front too.
Use a test light or multimeter to check voltage across the two connectors on the rear screen. If there's no voltage it could be a break in the wire where it goes from the body to the door.

Thank you John, will do. Jerry
