How much for a new/2nd hand Mondeo Windscreen?

Sep 06, 2003 8 Replies

My Mondeo has a nasty crack on the windscreen (running from top to bottom) and is needing replaced.

Can anyone give me an idea how much I'm likely to pay for ...

a. Brand New Heated Screen. b. Brand New Screen. c. 2nd Hand Heated Screen from Scrappies.

TIA

you are looking at almost £400 for a screen new obviously you can't claim on the insurance no?

Rule this out as its a bonded screen and you'll break it trying to remove.

Does your insurance not cover replacement windscreen?

Tim..

Afraid not, I scrimped on my insurance costs last year and only took TPFT :-(

"Tim.." mumbled:

Not always. I've seen it done before my very eyes at a scrap yard. Carlton, I think it was, but it was a while ago.

Hi Stu

These are bonded screens, you'd find it easier to find rocking horse s*it!!.

You should try an insurance claim, you'll only have to pay the excess.

I got a guy to come out and fit a new tinted non-heated Mondeo windscreen for £95 including installation, fantastic value for money if u ask me.

The old windscreen cracked a good bit more as he removed it, but it didn't shatter.

Stu.

Dave,

Was it a gluled screen, if so : How much care did they take to avoid possibility of corrosion due to paint being removed when they clean up the "frame" ? Did it seal properly etc etc....

Steve

Laminated screens don't shatter - unless they get whacked.
