as you look under the bonnet the high port is on the left above the pump, the low is on the far right, near the front

So just to confirm. The low port is the one by the battery? Just want to be sure.

yes, by the battery, the low connector will only fit the low port, they are two different sizes.

I don't work in a garage and not an expert, so feel free to tell me why its crap. I am not convinced it does anything and certainly not going to use it this time, but thought I'd get it while ordering. I fully expect it to be crap just as Radweld was.

The reason I am doing this myself is cost. My Mondeo gets laid up for

if it losing its gas in 6 months then you really should get the fault fixed. mondeo suffers from porous condenser quite often. if it loses all its gas it will draw in moisture and wreck the rest of the system system if it is not vacuumed out, which you probly have not got the equipment to do.

Hmmm..£58 (incl VAT) from Douglas Park BMW (nr Glasgow) for a recharge. I've never heard anyone say that BMW dealer prices were cheap.

I tend to feel that if a local village garage is more expensive than a main dealership (with all of its exorbitant and extravagant overheads) then I shouldn't be going there. Ok, even if the main dealer is calling in a mobile service, the indy should be able to do something similar.

So just to confirm. The low port is the one by the battery? Just want to be sure.

With respect, if you cannot determine Low and High ports from looking at them, or where to find them from the pipework layout, do not mess with the a/c system.

So judgemental without knowing the facts. I was just asking to make life easier to save me standing outside in the road with kids and busses going past. I'm sure you'd agree its best to be sure about the high and low service ports. I've successfully vacced out a domestic aircon in the past and recharged to correct pressure and its still cooling me nicely today, I'm just new to car aircon.
