I purchased a 1.8 LX Duratec HE Mondeo with 27000 mile on the clock and still under warranty.
Already it has had a major problem with the Dual Mass Flywheeel, whatever that is, and now has a suspension problem that the Ford Main Dealer says he cannot diagnose as he does not have the equipment to test all the suspension geometry. I think I have bought a pile of crap that drives very nicely.
Has anyone else experienced such problems so early in a Mondeos life?

Racked up 32,000 miles in my TDCi in 9 months without a problem. Two services and two tyres are the only trips to a service bay.

2003 saw over 500,000 BMW 3 series' being produced, the Mondeo barely managed 200,000.
Think it has, for the last few years.
having spent a long time working on cars I have previously stated that the new Mondeo is total Junk.... and I still do..... I am an independent engineering/workshop and do a hell of a lot of work for a few ford dealers....... electrics and so on.... the DMF(Dual mass flywheel) gives bother on Mondeos and transits... a proper crap design.... the rear suspensions do give trouble by knocking in the shock absorbers... again a poor design.. Buy a Toyota !!

The only reason ford cars are near the top of the "best sellers" is that Ford Motor company register more cars themselves than are actually sold to
1st time buyers.

They'll sell them as "Demonstrators" or on Ford Direct I'd guess.
Not that I'm complaining. It means I get cheap, reliable motoring!
If you think Mondeos are bad, just try googling for Rover K Series head- gaskets.

The UK sells nearly 15% of the Mondeos built? Blimey. I'm surprised. Actually, checking populations, it's maybe not so surprising - Mondeos aren't sold much outside Europe, and the UK's just over 15% of the EU population.
The 3's production figures are helped by being sold worldwide.
