New Vectra 1.9 CDTI 150PS check?

Guys/Gals,

Just decided on a nearly new 04 model vectra 1.9 CDTI 150PS flavour. I was about to change insurance ready for the new car and the insurance company computer shows the REG number to be registered to the same car apart from that it states 120PS model of engine.

Checked with DVLA and HPI. They couldn't confirm what engine it was. I also checked with the garage and registration document, they didn't detail it either apart from it's in the higher emission group on the reg document.

My question is, is there a definate reliable way I can check wether this car is a 150PS and not a 120PS before I hand over the big money. The car is nearly new and was registered late May 2004.

TIA

Fred

Presumably you can check with the manufacturer, the 150PS version probably has a different code stamped on the VIN plate or the engine ?

Alternatively take it to a testing centre with a rolling road, they could measure the power output.

Vauxhall "customer care" will sort you out. If you're not buying it from a main dealer then you could make contact with the dealer you will be using after you have bought it, and their database will tell them which model you've got from the reg number.

Is it an import? If so , the above may not apply, and you may need the VIN number.

Engine code or software version the ecu is running is the only sure way of telling.

Did you find the answer?

If not, email me the registration number and I will check on the Vauxhall warranty site.
