No- not wide throttle- highest value of depression through the carb- medium to high speed crusie around peak torque are best conditions for carb icing- i.e. when the engines suck is strongest against a partially closed throttle.

I've always put it down to the mass of fuel being evaporated that causes the trouble rather than adiabatic expansion in the throttle throat. I shall have to ponder of this...bring me some fish.

I think you'll find there are a great number of us driving around in carburettored cars. Especially if we're interested enough in maintenance to subscribe to this newsgroup.

Saw a quad barrel Holley atop a 560cu inch chev big block at the weekend. It really isnt a carburettor- more akin to a watering can full of petrol above the inlet manifold...!!

Probably a good idea - it is a little chilly out there. Oh, on a side note; I'd suggest that if you have a pond with fish in it, you should put some anti-freeze in there......Just to stop carp icing.
Ok, I think I'll just stop right there before the pun police get me!
