Question about LPG

Jul 27, 2004 5 Replies

Does anyone know of a link where I can look at the technicalities of such a conversion?

I want to see what needs to be done to the engine and what differences (other than fuel cost) it makes.

Thanks,

Graham

You could always try uk.rec.cars.fuel.lpg

Hello,

You would be better of with a diesel as fuel economy is severely reduced using gas. So although cheaper, you end up paying the same for the equivalent to the economy of when using petrol. There is also less power available so you drive harder to get the same performance. It was all a big con! That's why a lot of garages have removed gas pumps. To recover the cost of conversion would take years and years as there is no advantage in economy from what I found. Diesel all the way, cars hold the value and you get better performance with a good MPG.

You haven't got a clue have you?

Running on LPG very nearly halves your fuel costs. That's it. How much do you spend on fuel? Who much is the conversion? Now work out the payback. On my Range Rover with the mileage I do, it was under 12 weeks.

disagrees with you...Are you sure youre not talking about the crappy old LPG systems thatbasically used a gas valve like you would find on a cooker, for anaccelerator?
