It's not nonsense from the point of view of the believing Jew or Christian. What's wrong with this discussion, AFAIKC, is the militancy of it. I can see both sides - and I can see what Guy's already pointed out, viz: it's not going to get anyone anywhere.

I may be wrong, but I don't think it's nonsense from the POV of muslims either. Or for that matter any other 'mainstream' (for want of a better word) religion. I'm not saying whether or not I'm agreeing with that view: I'm merely trying to point out that the reference to 'nonsense' could be offensive - and therefore may be a little unwise.
