It is just possible to get in to the boot via the rear seat, but then no apparent way to remove the trim while hatch is closed, to get at the lock.
Any suggestions please, will destroying the trim from the inside actually achieve anything?

Get in the boot with a torch and see if it is possible to unlatch it with a screwdriver. I managed it with a Polo that got stuck half-latched.
