STOP warning Citreon Xsara

Jun 03, 2008 2 Replies

Had Xsara for four years and no problems, daughter has now had it for 6 weeks and twice in that time the Immediate Stop warning has appeared on dashboard. She has taken it to dealer for check but they could not find the answer to the problem.Their diagnostics could not detect anything. She says that their is a heating smell when it happens and and a hissing noise.Has anyone in the group had experience of this or can suggest what could be cause?Water level in radiator is Ok.

Dodgy thermostat, fan switch or water pump, but you'd expect a fault code. Try a different or independent citroen garage & get the coolant checked for exhaust gases (then you'll know it's not a head gasket & can relax a bit)

Thanks for advice .Have passed it on to daughter to take the action.
