Sucker pads

I want to stick a camera to the rear window of my car so that I have a record of the drivers behind me (just in case). There is no room to put the camera suction pad on without it touching/covering the elements.

Am I Likely to damage the element by doing this? There is no place other than the rear window to fit it.

WTF is it with everyone wanting to record everything these days?

I just hope that police start pulling SD cards as evidence and prosecuting people based on their own recordings.

The police are more than welcome to see my SD cards anytime! If nothing happens the card writes over its data anyway.

Sounds like you are exactly the sort of bloke who should worry about such devices.

And they'd find absolutely _nothing_? Not even a speeding ticket?

I'm with Steve on this - I really cannot see the point, unless it was to review and figure out what I could have done to avoid any situation. The number of real scam claims that could be prevented is vanishingly small. I don't know anybody who has ever been genuine scammed in such a way.

Nothing.

You're either lying or massively unaware.

(Sheesh! I fell sorry for you with all the flak you are getting over a perfectly reasonable question.)

I don't know for sure, but I personally would not risk damaging the rear screen elements; it's really irritating if some of them fail.

Can you rig up a bracket to something else, and abandon the sucker?

Keeping calm is probably why I have never had a speeding or parking ticket, let alone anything else Chris.

Heh!

Without knowing your vehicle, is it possible to use something like this:

fixed to a rear side window?

A speeding ticket? On a SD card??? Are you out of your tiny mind?

It was entirely predictable, to be honest.

Of course, if he hadn't been flashing his micro-penis on public roads, then she'd never have been in the position to make such a comment...

'Oh look, it's like a penis, but smaller'

You can also stick this sort of thing quite effectively on those super tacky pads, even if they are stuck to a slighly curved surface like bits of dashboard or the plastic trim around rear pillars. That's what we use to fix our mobile phones in the various cars when using them as satnavs. Or perhaps you could mount something on a parcel shelf, if you have one.
