Vauxhall Astra Engine cut out

Hi



I am having trouble with my 1998 'S' reg astra - intermitently the engine just seems to stop when I pull up at lights or in traffic - the revs drop right of and the thing just comes to a halt - it will start again but this is becoming a bit tedious !



Can anyone tell me what the problem might be - so I at least know where to start spending money putting it right.

Sounds like an impromptu ECU reset did the job!

The OP's problem may be caused by a sticky idle control valve which needs a good clean, although resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours is probably worth a try.
