My local Peugeot specialist used to fire carbon dioxide down the intake, but I figured it took a brave man (or woman) to get that close to it.

I have seen a 205 1.8 diesel van after this happened on the road. It made a mess of itself, after accelerating quicker than a quick thing the driver put it into neutral and stopped the car. The engine continued for a few minutes then something terminal happened to it involving the cooling system. The specialist had kept the broken engine and I was close to buying it as a coffee table, except it was very heavy.

Would look great in our flat now, though...
