Vin Number?

Check the number with that on your V5. It tells you there.

Haven't got a V5. thats why I want the number. Been too busy and forgetful.

Err.. I took another look for the vin plate that I couldn't find last week. The number I described above begins with SAXX.... and is the chassis number I think. The passenger pillar vin plate has a number on it of 03116s This must be the VIN number surely?

Rover VIN numbers start with SAXX The plate on the passenger pillar may only be a build code plate.

Plus also have a look under the carpet between the drivers door and the seat runners - if there's a flap of carpet to lift up, you should find the vin no there. Plus often there's a plate attached to the panelling above the radiator which has the vin no, paint codes etc. - right under your nose when you lift up the bonnet.

Chassis number=VIN.

Normally 17 digits and it could easily begin SAXX. There's normally 6 ish digits on the end.

The VIN is the 17 letters & numbers.

Isn't it on the dashboard, visible through the bottom of the windscreen on the nearside (passenger side) ? Also on the VIN plate on the passenger door pillar.

Should look something along the lines of: SARRFHWXBAD123456

The VIN of my car is AAAAAnnnnnnnnnnnn, i.e. 5 alphabets (in upper case) followed by 12 numerical numbers.

Try it in this:

Different manufacturers use letters & numbers in different positions in the VIN.

The VIN is unique to each vehicle. It identifies the country of origin, the manufacturer, and the vehicle serial number. It may identify the year & month of manufacture, the engine type / size, etc

That's where they should be on that model of Rover. And they, they do begin SAXX...
