Warning buzzers too quiet

The warning buzzers in my car (05 reg Toyota Corolla) are very quiet. The dealer says nothing can be done about it. Does anyone have any ideas how I might be able to make them sound louder? Thanks

What "warning buzzers"?

Serious question - is it a problem with the buzzer or your hearing?

See, you can't hear them either!

Perhaps he's too old to hear high pitches!

Ahh, another radio2 listener then I take it!!

Don't you just wish Jimmy would come back, then we wouldn't have to put up with Jeremy Whine anymore!

Take that back, you swine. I've never willingly listened to R2 and have no intention of starting now. R4 for me, man and boy - and, for that matter, foetus, too.

Oh well, never mind. I'm sure it wont have any lasting effects!

Jeremy Whine was going on about the high pitched whistly thing yesterday.

Why do you need warning buzzers? Are you blind?

No computer settings to make them louder? Don't know if Toyotas have a computer for setting them, but I can make the various buzzers louder on my car using the dashboard computer.

Why do you need them in the first place?

Depends - so far on a car I drove recently, there was one for the parking sensors, one for a faulty airbag, ice warning, one because the headlights were on with noone in the car, and one to warn that "refuelling was required".

On many cars the warning lights may not be noticeable on a bright day.

The question was "Why do you NEED them in the first place", not "What do they do".

Do you *need* audible warning of

- Parking sensors?

- Faulty airbag?

- Ice warning?

- Headlights on?

- Low fuel?

No, you don't *NEED* any of those. You may *like* them, but you don't NEED them. A warning light will suffice for all, apart from the parking sensors, which don't even require that. Turn your head.

Yes. I need warning of parking sensors so I can avoid cars driven by people who cannot park.

R4 had a fair bit about it, too.

You can make that argument about the entire dashboard though.

Indeed you can.

Which is why, in my own fleet, I have one vehicle whose entire dashboard consists of a speedo, a fuel gauge, and a single (lack-of-charge) warning light which has never worked.

And a motorbike with a grand total of two wires - one for the rear light and the HT lead - and not even a speedo.

So - what was that about "Need"?

Needs differ, as do wants.

Indeed. Some people are so incredibly thick that they need a "bong bong" to tell them to put fuel in even though there's a 2" guage right in front of their nose.
