What nonsense...

I could tell you about the time my daughter had a puncture in a seamy area of Manchester whilst I was eating my dinner. I told her to call the AA, finished my dinner and drove there with my 6ft son and a heavy tyre lever. The jack was rusty, it took me quite a while to discover that the spare wheel had to be wound down from beneath the boot using the handle from the jack, and the spare was flat, so we had to find a garage air line to inflate it.

The wheel was back on the car when Mr AA arrived, so I asked him to grease the jack before giving daughter a lecture on car care basics, and the stupidity of owning a Renault. I can't remember the model...

The owner's manual for My Saab 9000 actually tells you have to service the car! Compare that with a modern car where it just tells you how to plug the mp3.

E.g. changing bulbs anywhere on my car is a doodle; no need to take the car to pieces.
