Bigger oil filter

Feb 06, 2004 2 Replies

Two days ago I visited Mazda dealer in order to buy oil filters and gaskets. I was in a hurry and didn't notice that they sold me JEYO-14-3O2-9A oil filters instead of B6Y1-I4-302-9A. Actually, I put the JEYO... filter on and it fits and works just fine. And it's 25% longer than B6Y1. Today I talked to Service Manager at the dealer, he said that they've been using longer (JEYO) filters instead of B6Y1 for couple of years, and they are better due to their larger filtering surface. I'd agree with this, just don't know if it has anything to do with oil pressure. Does any of You have ever used these filters? AFAIK they're for Mazda 626 2.5l.

You don't need to be concerned about the oil pressure being effected, it will simply hold a touch more oil in the system. That is, if size is the only difference.
