water on floor

I'm new to the group ( and to Miatas!) I have '93 which I unfortunately have to keep outside. So far it has been bone dry after rain, but my wife drove it with AC on for the first time yesterday, and ended up with about an inch of water on the passenger floor (after a 2 hr drive). I assume some drain is blocked from the AC. Any help would be appreciated!

The drain for the evaporator case is probably blocked by debris. Look on the passenger side underneath the glove box and you will see a black rubber tube that goes from the evaporator case through the firewall. The water normally drains through this tube. You can pull the tube off, make sure that it's clear, and then insert a coat hanger into the case to poke the debris clear of the drain hole. When I did mine, I used a short bucket to catch the dirty water that came out. If it clogs up again soon, you may have to remove the case and clear it out, but I did the simple fix about 3 years ago and it hasn't leaked any more water since then.

Be very careful with that wire snake, as a good gouge at the A/C evaporator will end all of the water in the floor...With No A/C.... Iremoved the tube to clear it, then used the eraser end of a pencil to clear the rest.

I had this problem last summer. I couldn't find the drain hole myself, and I took it to the dealer. They unblocked it without charge. It took only a few minutes. I understand that they use compressed air, and it's better to do it that way, rather than poking around with -- say -- a straightened-out coathanger.
