Have just tried to start a car that ive just bought. Engine will not turn over , but it is not siezed. When key is turned, a clicking noise is heard. i suspect the solenoid is faulty.

oh sorry, have i got the wrong NG? I only bought it a week ago, so it is a new mini to me, so that is why i posted here...

You should try posting this to comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc, so long as the vehicle has been used to carry such an item -- or at least someone who has thought about using a computer -- at some point in its history. I'm sure they will give you the proper response.
The new, and improved, Mini may have started off 'piggybacking" but, has far surpassed the old mini in popularity and performance. As far as your original question, you might try alt.autos.mini....The guys in that group are sooo knowledgeable and kind {cough cough}. Plus this is really a non-existent news group. We have all gone over to the dark side.
