How do I lock the doors with my key in the ignition?

Have you tried lifting the handle while you close the door?

Have you tried starting the car first? It might be that the car is attempting to outsmart you by assuming that you're locking your keys in the car by accident. Just a thought.

With the door open, press the "Lock" button on the remote. Get out of the car. Close the door.

I did this one time (inadvertently) and gratefully, I was at home and could use my wife's key to get in..........

Thanks for the help, guys. Here is what I've found out, in case you're interested.

1. Using a second key will work.
2. If I lock the door first then put the key in the ignition, the door will stay locked. However, the keyless entry keypad won't work if the key is in the ignition. So, a second key is still necessary to get back in.
3. I called the dealer to see if they had any secret they could reveal to me. They didn't. They told me to use a remote starter.
