Mirage 1991 dies out

1991 Mirage w/ 122,000 in very good working order except it just plain dies out. Brought into shop for 3 days and they could not find anything wrong with it at all. Usually dies when pulling away from a stop, but not when idling. Will do this when engine is cold or hot. Could this be due to a bad coil, or moisture condensation? Possibly does it after filling it with gas, but not sure. Using High-Octane in case there was water in the tank. Thank you very much if you could help -- Greg

Probably a clogged fuel filter. The type of gas you use won't fix water in the tank. There are products that bind with the H20 to make it burnable, but the best fix is to drain the tank.

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? After that..the fuel pressure regulator could be leaking or the fuel pump could be going....If the filter has not been changed for 40-50K I would go there first.

If you have water in the fuel be sure to check the fuel filling tube ,Could well be a rust hole in it ,My own colt (wife) had 10 liters of water in the tank because of this, but was still able to run ,
