You'll also want a recent cambelt change - they're due every 36k miles /

If it sounds like a diesel on startup, then goes quiet, the variator is not long for this world, which means it'll need a new variator and cambelt - budget £300 for this.

I wouldn't. It's a rough old dog - done quite a few miles, had at least one un-caring owner.

Look for something else.

Like a Marea 20v. Just as quick and fun to drive, but more boring looking. 500 quid would get a minter these days.

Why not buy something that will still be worth £375 in November so you can at least get your money back? Throwing away that much money for 6 months motoring seems silly (or am I just a tightwad?)

My 145 was much cleaner than that one, but it was a Boxer. I had always wanted a 145 and was so pleased when I got it.

I hate to say it, but it was absolutely not the modern 'Sud I had hoped for.

That's two "I found the Alfa slightly disappointing" posts in a week.

I'll have to be careful.

The 145 2.0TSpark Cloverleafs are a much better car than the Boxers.

Although I'd still love a 16v Boxer.
