anyone want my BMW?

sell up time looking (probably far to optimistic!) £1995ono had a new block and pistons at around 90kish and is on about 115k now, getting serviced on tuesday and hopefully will get a years test and 6 months tax as well and i'll even fix the boot lock (have to work refuse to crawl through the backseats to get my locking wheel nut key lol)

tyres are all good, had new rear tyres last april and new fronts back last december with plenty of tread left.

has a 50p sized rust spot just below the boot lid if i'm gonna to be totally honest bout the condition and the drivers seat is a little worn could do with a recover but the back of the seat and the rest of the leather is still in great condition. body work wise is good for age, few small scratches which will probably polish out but the car is 11 years old. i'm even gonna leave the HID kit in too.

i'll leave the sony cd mp3 head unit in if i get a good enough price otherwise the old kenwood will be put back and the boot changer plugged back in.

better list some of the spec i guess climate control (still blows nice and cold) electric sun roof (all working and no leaks) after market xenon kit (6000k so not to blue like some) all interior lights replaced with LED's, leather seats

17" E46 7 spoke alloys tinted after market rear lights (look good to and not as s**te as the lexus ones i've seen! or the tacky LED one will throw the old rear lights in too incase they don't like the tinted ones.

commence offers/piss taking

I'd only want the engine, box, engine loom, immobiliser and a few other bits, so no, but thanks...

Umm.. I'm vaguely looking.. but it would be helpful if you said a few bits about what it actually was other than 'my BMW'.

I know I should probably know but some people on this group get through (or own) so many cars I can't keep up!

Me and SWMBO have come to a midpoint we will probably both be happy with

- an E36 323i Coupe. Red (her choice).

But go on, try and sell me what you've got instead!

It's a late E36 328ci Coupe I beleive? It might not be a coupe, but it's definately a late E36 328 something :-)

Well it's an engine size bigger than I was after, and the wrong colour :-(

As she says 'we've got a year to find something, why rush' so I think that's got to be a no from me.. sorry.

Looks like a nice car though, good luck with it. Having been looking around at them £1995 looks like a reasonable price but with people tightening their belts thirsty engines are a buyers market right now. What's the mileage? and what mpg do you get out of it? 20-22?

it's 117k roughly, had an engine rebuild at 90k something with new block and pistons. always been serviced although the books not stamped but i can get it stamped as it's my friends garage thats always looked after it. recently serviced too just today and running nice :)

i get on average 28mpg you'd have to be red lining it a lot to get it into

20-22, my friends old 318 E36 only beat my average mpg by 2-3mpg, he always wished he went for a 328 instead.

I know from my experiences with BMW stuff that the 2.8 seems to be better on fuel than the smaller versions of the same lump. In some circumstances it's better on fuel (real world) than the 2.0 and 2.2.

I can't get near an average of 28 mpg in town in my E30, but my brothers old E39 528i used to average at least that, even my old E28 528i did around 28 mpg.

So, basically, don't buy a 323i and think you'll be saving money compared to running a 328i - because you won't. The 323i was purely made for people who couldn't afford a new 328i.

OK, so I'm still slightly tempted... can't afford £2K though. Want to drop me an email? The address works.

Same reg as my Ti was, two and a half years on from when I sold it and it's still attempting to fetch almost twice what I sold it for. Higher mileage too.

I remember when you bought it for about 6 grand and I'd just paid a grand for my Ti which was the same age but lower mileage.

I had to spend 600 quid on a gearbox but wasn't your Nikasil problem an expensive do as well?

I think that despite front-wheel drive I got better value for money and actually profited when I sold it :)

And paid no interest as I bought it outright. It was a good upgrade from a 200 quid micra...

So, in summary, you bought a cheaper car than Vamp, and are far more awesome than him? Cool :-)

I beleive the garage paid for his engine fix heh.

no i paid the £1500 labour the garage paid the £3k to BMW for the new block and pistons! he may well of saved a lot more cash than me with the rover, but at the end of the day he had a rover and a rover badge. my BMW had it's problems but it did have the nicer badge :)

Nothing at all, as it was all posted below the sig-sep.

Get yourself a proper newsreader, or at least learn to drive the one you're using, ffs.

Says the man using 'Windows mail'.... which isn't, and never will be, a 'proper newsreader'.

HTH.

Meh, does the job and it was already on here. And I've got better things to do than researching newsreaders that turn sigs grey!

Naturally. And I am more awesome because I didn't join the group for advice on neons for a Cavalier :)

A badge that cost you 4 grand in depreciation, and who knows in finance interest? Plus your manufacturing defect (nikasil) cost nearly a grand more to put right than my manufacturing defect (plastic diff bearing races).

Five grand better off

Not entirely his fault, but yes, it was always going to lose rather a lot of money.

Still... he's been happy with it, and that's the main thing.

I wouldn't mind it myself, but I've looked at what they're fetching right now and wouldn't want to insult Vamp. ;-)
