I nearly bought one new, but took the sensible (ish) option of a TDI back in 1998 (as it was fast enough and I had a long commute).

I think Doki is referring to the model before yours iirc - his is the 2.0
16v Cupra, not the 1.8 Turbo of the last couple of models, aside the new one with it's 1.4 Turbo'd and Supercharged'd engine. Bit of a shame that it didn't get the same engine as it's bigger brother this time and get the 2.0 TFSi lump, to make them as easy to tune as ever hehe. Of course for all I know the 1.4 could be good for 250bhp from a remap heh, I just can't see it though with such a small capacity. But then again, it has like what, 35% less capacity but 100% more boost hehe :-p
Nah. The TDI I had was a 1998 one. I considered the Cupra like he's bought.
Ah apologies, I thought you were deciding between the TDi and the 1.8T :-) If it was the later model again, the TDi160 - that'd be a tough call... For a few seconds before I bought the petrol one hehe :-)
Have not bought. The fecking dealer sold it whilst it was still on ebay. Not a happy chappy.
I looked at one of those PD160 ones before buying the Fabia. They're all the money.....
