Are MR2 Turbos...

Heh - no he was sluggish off the mark every time he raced. "Granny starts" - to preserve your clutch and tyres I suppose. Once past the thirty foot marker he picked up quite smartly! :)

the MR2 turbo is one of the best cars for launching on the drag due to having the engine over for more grip but ONLY if the driver does it right! i seen MR2 turbo's take supra's and big powered sky lines on the drag on launch and then beaten last second as the supra's and skylines get moving.

oh and meatball the rev2 MR2 turbo's have exactly the same engine as your GT4, the ST205 GT4's share the same spec as the Rev3 MR2 turbo's

This is pretty much what I figured. Driver technique!

Aye. But there is one machine that tackles the MR2s and usually comes out on top - the RS200. Mid mounted 1.8 litre turbo, all wheel drive, very little weight and short gearing...

can't afford to though

Actually quite a nice bloke to chat too, talked about cars, knew the engines pretty well, talked about how he used to drive an Skyline R34, but was scared silly by it's performance, and then one day realised the depreciation he was getting from starting it everyday, sold it, bought his daily driver import while searching for a seriously tuned import turbo in Japan.

What? It costs money to slow down in one????

Do Nissan send out bills whenever you touch the middle pedal or something?

Scary!

In article , snipped-for-privacy@blue-nopressedmeat-yonder.co.uk spouted forth into uk.rec.cars.modifications...

He isn't actually that far wrong. R32 discs where liable to explode once very worn, and a replacment set of discs from Nissan for any Skyline is somewhere in the region of a grand (can't remember if that was each or for the set).

Yeah, I've heard the same.

But surely you can just pick up a pair of EBC/Tarox/Pagid/BlackDiamond/RedDot/etc discs for a hundred quid or so, just like every other car ?

normally I would agree, but haven't looked. You might fidn that either very few euro companies make them for the=20 Skylines because they were import only, or they charge silly money=20 because they are still cheaper than the factory.

Seems that EBCdirect only list discs for the old C210 Datsun Skyline 2.4=20 (as Nissan in their online catalogue). At Needforspeed blackdiamonds are =A3110-140 a pair for the fronts. Rears are only listed for the R33 at arround =A3120 a pair, while EBC's=20 are listed for the R32 at =A3125-=A3160, fronts only.

or you can get a Tarox 6pot big brake kit for =A31400.

Still have it mate. Pete M came, looked and liked, but found the TT Sierra Estate instead.

It's a good car, and he could give you a fair balanced review of the performance.
