You are kidding about the Manta being more practical than a Capri I hope.

The rear accomodation in a Manta, especially the hatch version, always appears much more inviting than the Capri.

I once had a lift in one of these, thought it was your normal "sewing machine" Talbot. I was wrong, and seriously impressed :)
Cool car in its time, but it's my turn to play the "not a hot hatch" card now (altho I won't deny it was hot, and had a hatch).
Indeed, but because they tend to be low they have a habit of looking bigger than they actually are.
It was, but there was also a hatch version of the Mk3 with the same
150bhp engine that was used in the GSi2000, which in later years was quite widely renowned for putting out more like 160bhp (mine certainly tested 165bhp despite being completely standard, and another one belonging to a friend rolled at 158bhp).
It's no bigger though, and besides, one of my favourite cars of all time is the Mk1 Capri, I even like the view out of the rear windows.
The Manta is just a Mk1 Cavalier in a slightly prettier frock, whereas at least the Capri is based on something vaguely enjoyable to drive.
That's about £450 profit (split between the 2 of us) plus a BX 16v saved from the cursher for another year, so not a bad result.
