Day / Week Insurance

Anyone know anywhere that will provide single day / week cover on a car, specifically for a modified car?

Cheers

Don't think anyone will.. I wanted that sort of cover a year or so ago, and got told point blank it doesn't happen anymore :(

While my Audi was in the garage having a new water pump fitted, my insurance company gave me temp cover on a Escort for 1 week, you have to be over 30 though to use Esure so don't know about you young whipper Snappers :)

The car was owned by a mate, and they gave me fullycomp, it was a POS as well :)

try Norwich union. Not cheap, but I heard that for the right money, they will arrange any timed cover for as short a period as necessary.

Lucky sod. I just got insulted by a git at Swinton, looked at strangely by someone in an independant place up the road, and bored with it all. Was told it used to exist, but no longer does because the companies have decided it's silly to insure a car you don't own due to you not having a vested interest in it, or some crap like that.

It's not like I'm even that young, and it was only a Proton 1.5 I was trying to insure for a few days!

You do need an insurable interest in a car, normally this is part of a higher agreement even if it's a free higher such as a test drive or curticy car you are often asked to sign a higher agreement.

Just insure it normally, and cancel the policy when you've finished.

And don't forget to pay up front rather than through an installment plan, or they may have you for several extra payments bacause of penalty/minimum cancellation period due to it being a finance agreement.

I looked at doing it that way when i was looking at doing it per month and most i spoke to were either crap at giving refund or would only give you back a certain %, even if you only used it for 1 week they would refund

11/12th MAX. With it being a fully modified car the full premium would be quite a bit and i don't fancy loosing 100's due to crap T&C's

I just want to unsure the car for 1 or 2 odd days and the odd weekend when there is a show.

True. Most do refund on a monthly pro-rata, derated to 10 months, so it can be expensive if you only want cover for a couple of weeks.

Sounds like you might want a low-mileage policy then. If it's over 10 years old then look at getting it on a limited mileage classic car policy - the premium on those is usually pretty much peanuts.

Get it insured with one of the various firms who insure custom cars then! I assume if it's a show car it's pretty comprehensively modified, and it's your second car. If you ring up some of the specialist insurers and get a limited mileage policy you should be able to get it for a reasonabe price.
