If you compare an average petrol 2 litre and a diesel 2 litre non turbo, the diesels ALWAYS make less power and always far LESS torque as well. They are just gutless. The illusion of torque comes from the fact that the top nend is so dismal! The dyno shows the reality of the situation. They also wear out FASTER than the almost identical petrol engine equivelents, contrary to popular opinion. There are some very real reasons for this.
Diesels are crap, so to make one acceptable in anything other than a tractor or boat, they HAVE to have an unreliable complex expensive turbo fitted. If you treat a 2 litre petrol engine to the same expensive turbo, it would stuff the diesel totally.
