Nope, it would still kill you.
Nope, it would still kill you.
Nope Conor I never did visit that part of your false memories. What else did you counsellor implant.
"Remus in talking sense shocker."
I've just complimented you for actually talking sense, and then you go and let yourself down by spelling someone's name wrong, when it's written there right in front of you...
they arent as heavy as you might think
and how are V8's not reliable? yes I agree the supra engine will go like stink but its just not right, supercharged V8 or even turbo'd if u must, but not a toyota engine.... please?
Why not just have both and a ten second car?
I like the cut of your jib.
Fraser
I'm slowly improveing you must admit, ever so slowly...
:)
110% agree, twin turbo that v8!!!
Fraser, you know it makes sense :)
I spelled my own name wrong in a post last night (c:

they wont let me
I saw the one with the Mitsubishi Evo and some Toyota saloon car. That doesn't prove turbocharged cars are slow, all that proves is that you need to learn how to use a gearbox. Start them both at 30mph in 2nd or 3rd gear and who do you think will win?
Sure, peak power can certainly be higher, but the whole point about that is you rarely are at the red line and what happens before you get there is how the car really feels. I've driven a few cars in various guises and v8 is my absolute choice. Mainly from the sounds it makes. YMMV and these things always are subjective, but I don't know anyone who owns a v8 who dislikes the engine.
No, it proves they have no rpm flexibility. And that you need to dance on the gear lever to take advantage once they can be persuaded to make boost.
It does not prove that either is faster, because that was not the issue. Turboed anything is faster all else remaining equal, but not nessasarily nicer to drive or as instant on the gas.
This is why an old V8 with less max power is so much nicer to drive than say a 4 pot turbo with more "peak" power. Its about instant rpm irrelevant go. And over a bigger range of rpms.
And because the area under the torque curve is more important than the peak power figure in normal road use the V8 with nominally less power is actually much faster in real world usage, and probably on a standing quarter too. Think, sudden small gap in traffic, V8 floors it (revs, gear unimportant) and is gone. Boost or revs dont effect it. Power is as fast as the throttle plate. Turbo 4 pot is left behind looking for a suitable gear and waiting for some boost to build so it too can go, but the gap has already gone. These situations happen loads every time you drive on the road dozens of times. So the turbo 4 pot has to wait for a less sudden opertunity.
