What's wrong with T-Cut? What have you tried using to remove it?

Paint is metalic with a clear topcoat as finish.

Have tried tar remover and most of the usual detergent/spirit based products.

It's more likely tar spots. Buy yourself a clay bar kit from halfords (or similar places) , and use that after you've washed the car. It's hard work but very effective.

And? Get the T-Cut out.

Seconded. Clay will remove it, almost certainly. It got tiny spots of masonry paint off my car (that stuff goes a long way....)

There are no similar places to Halfords, Halfords seems to have put them all out of business and has since stopped selling anything useful or even reasonably priced!

They've been s*it for years, so I don't go in any more- haven't for 3 years or so. I get bits I need quick from a local car shop, parts from the dealer or GSF, other things online. Halfrauds are just a tat emporium.

There are still plenty of real parts shop though.

Around here there are partco, autoparts, GSF, Euro.

Fair enough, the latter two don't do accessories as such, but there are plenty of places other than halfords to buy a clay kit.

Halfords is only for Sundays, Saturday afternoons or after 5.00 on a week night. The rest of the time, there is no excuse for darkening its doors.

My local motorfactors is primarily a motorfactors, but has a small halfords-esque area by the counter - radios, daft bulbs, bling bits etc. One of the blokes there told me there's a good margin on it, and most of the folks who come in to buy the stuff will basically drop that week's wages on it in one go. OTOH the parts business requires holding large amounts of fairly expensive stock, which might not shift all that quickly, so you can see why the Halfords business model is as it is.

IME the best place to buy cleaning gear is ebay or one of the online car detailing / valeting sites.

Absolutely. Halfords have shifted to selling more bikes , car stereos and blingy stuff because that's where they make more money. Run of the mill generic stuff like oil and cleaning supplies also go well and get shelf space as a result but anything without mass market appeal has been relegated to "we can order one in for you"

If they are fly poo spots, then they'll come off with car shampoo and some good sponge action.
