Bidding's gone to quite a bit on this, one, but I'd bloody love one of those things!

Anyone got any idea what sort of average fuel economy one of those would give?

I remember seeing one in the gumball rally, and i've wanted one ever since

17-22 mpg would do very nicely for some V12 power in one of them!

Bloody terrible shame about the terrible BMW interior though.

Shame the seller doesn't mention that the front of the car is a different colour either. ;-)

You only have to look at 6-series prices to see that.

Take a look at this month's Evo - there's a nice article about older BMs.

It mentions the 5.0 V12 as being utter s**te - the 4.0 V8 is apparently MUCH better !

Shite on fuel or just s**te in general?

The V12 in the early 850s and some of the 750s is noted as being really quite unreliable; Radiators disintegrate regularly; Electronic faults are a nightmare to diagnose (two of everything); gearbox prombles.

Apparently the engine in the 850CSi sorted a lot of these problems but it's still a tight engine bay if anything does need doing.

As a result the V8 is a load less trouble with not that much less performance.

Both.

And it's unreliable and CRAZY expensive to fix.

The 4.0 V8 makes almost as much power, drinks less fuel, doesn't bust, and is generally regarded as the way forward :)

Yeah, but I wanna VEE TWELVE!!!

Seriously, sounds like the V8 is the one to go for. The V12s hold their money stupidly well, V8s should hopefully be cheaper as well! Got any power/torque figures for the two to compare?
