I would be liking that.

Lots of money to spend for comparatively little power.

But its white...and only 294HP.

And a TVR Tuscan costs about £39k for the 350BHP version and it sure looks a damned sight more attractive than a 205.

294BHP at the wheels with the losses of a 4WD system, guestimated using the magic of dyno software to be close to 375 at the flywheel, at only 1bar? That isn't comparitivley little power, that is fairly good, seeing as he has kept the boost pretty mild seeing as a build like that should be good for 1.5 or even close to 2 bar, but he likes to keep it running, not just the odd drag race and rebuild.

That is a street engine not a race engine.

Do you know which 205?

they look best in white, you can do this.http://www47.tok2.com/home/clearblue2/model/97-99/celicaWRC205_01.jpghttp://zibouzik.hp.infoseek.co.jp/wrc/wrc/st205_b.jpg Yes I now they are models, but there are some "Real" replicas in the club and they do look the absolute monkey's swingers.

You didn't think I was talking about a Pugrot205 (sorry Dan,Nom, and Carl) did you?

Err...yeah. Bit of a WRC head so Works and 205 sort of fitted.

And a TVR Tuscan still looks better and has more Oomph for probably less money.

But thats not the point is it ;)

Indeed, Ye Olde Cosworth had over £17000 spent on the motor to produce a reliable 500 bhp

Then again, you can get 375 Bhp from a Cossie with a remarkably small amount of spending...

Well, he bought it from someone who had done most of the work, and added uprated injectors, fuel rail and mapable ECU to get the best out of it reliably. So probably not.

The 205 WRC in mint condition sells for about £6-8k for a late model one. Slightly less for an import in WRC spec (either original or owner converted). As we all know mods, especially power or handling mods are fun, but not particularly worth much selling wise, unless you get the right person and it is a particularly special car. So I reckon, as most of it was done £12-15k max outlay would have probably done the job. A forged rebuild with full balancing can be done by one of the independant tuners for about £3.5k, less if you source the parts yourself from US and Japan and slip them under the wire customs wise.

S'pose not in this group but its a personal taste thing.

i know a guy who spent almost £25k on his MR2 turbo and got 450bhp then the block cracked! but the car had done over 100k miles and the car was running pretty touch, Motec ECU, anti lag hooked up the odd drag strip run ect. the guys manifold alone set him back £1k and was built by some WRC company because no one else could make one that didn't crack under the stress. felt sorry for the dude after all that. got the car running just right then the block cracked!

his saving to get a brand spanking new block but that's gonna cost him £5k! my whole car cost that!

How is 300bhp-at-the-wheels, "comparatively little power" in a 4x4 car ?

Nom

He's right you know !

White cars are infact illegal under the Taste-Convention-1896 ruling.

The Tuscan is more powerful and more attractive !

Father in law had a Cossie 4x4 doing that over 10 years ago.....
